We're looking to hire a Lead Acid Batteries Senior Buyer to join our Lead Acid Batteries Components Team to assist senior management in the organization and implementation of our ongoing projects. The role reports directly to the Lead Acid Batteries Components Supervisor and is based in Athens, Greece.


Key activities and responsibilities of this role includes:

  • Develops and monitors the strategic sourcing, runs RFQ and purchases materials for company’s plants according to specifications
  • Conducts market research and identifies opportunities, maintains, and expands relationships in order to develop existing supplier base
  • Evaluates, reviews, and compares responses to RFQs/RFPs from various vendors/suppliers, provides insights to the Supervisor and the involved internal stakeholders regarding the price/ availability of requested sources, and if agreed recommends the awarding of contracts according to procurement procedures
  • Analyzes suppliers’ proposals, negotiates contracts to achieve the best deals with the suppliers, based on a set of criteria such as technical specifications, price, quality, service, availability, reliability, production & distribution capabilities
  • Liaises with internal teams e.g. R&D, Product for exploring potential suppliers and / or for certain projects based on customers’ requests
  • Collaborates with MRP to carry out all necessary arrangements for the proper delivery of goods and follows up accordingly
  • Negotiates about contracts, including prices, payment terms, terms of delivery, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) with vendors/ suppliers to achieve terms that are in the company’s best interest
  • Monitors inventory requests and production schedule to coordinate purchasing activities with company’s current and anticipated demand of resources/services
  • Monitors and ensures the efficient resolution of issues related to delayed supply and/or improper quality of the incoming materials
  • Suppliers’ evaluation on a regularly basis, according to company’s required standards and contract terms
  • Creates reports for the management team according to procurement’s procedures

Job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration or Economics
  • min 5 years of experience in a relevant role (preferably in industry sector)
  • Fluency in Greek & English (both verbal & written) is a must
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications with an emphasis on Excel, BW tools and working knowledge of ERP/SAP
  • Excellent communication and negation skills with the ability to build trustworthy relationships
  • Attention to detail, highly organized and problem resolving mentality
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven mindset
  • Multi- tasking, willing to take initiatives and take quick decisions
  • Team spirit work and adaptable
