Keen to further empower our team by onboarding more talent, we're looking to hire a Formation Operator, for our assembly hub in Greensboro, NC.
The role is responsible for the most critical process in the battery production process; Utilizing the Inbatec Battery Formation System this person will be responsible with filling and charging unformed lead-acid battery cells, converting them to a completed battery.
This position requires individuals with great attention to detail, ability to react to and resolve problems quickly and the ability to multitask.
Following the instructions and processes exactly are critical to ensuring the equipment functions properly and safely and produces a quality product.
Key activities and responsibilities of this role includes:
- Participation in initial and annual hazardous waste management training
- Proper segregation and handling of system waste streams including hazardous waste
- Performing inspections, including documentation, of chemical storage and hazardous waste management areas
- Clean up and ensure proper disposal/segregation of small spills of hazardous materials
- Prompt reporting of spills and/or hazardous operating conditions to supervisory staff
- Assist in maintaining spill response materials and PPE required for work area
- Connecting and disconnecting charging circuit cables to batteries.
- Loading correct formation profile for batteries added to a particular circuit.
- Monitoring control panels and computer systems to ensure processes are remaining in specification and in control.
- Performing equipment maintenance as required.
- Using pallet jacks or lift trucks, move pallets of product in and out of the formation area once processes are complete.
- Inspect the area constantly, checking plugs for blockings and leakages, check for unfilled cells, check DC connecters and cables for above normal thermal heat sources.
- Remove and correct equipment identified faults.
- The Formation Operator might be assigned additional duties and responsibilities on the instructions of his/her supervisor to cover extraordinary and unforeseen needs.
Job requirements
Job Requirements:
- Qualified applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident card holder. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of working experience in manufacturing or similar industry
- Ability to read, monitor and operate complex testing equipment
- Familiar with using Lockout/Tagout procedures
- Experience working with DC Electrical charging systems
- Experience working with compressed air systems
- Advanced computer skills, math, reading and writing skills
- Able to work an 8-hour shift, 5 days a week in a rotation shift
- Availability to work overtime and weekends as needed
- Ability to come in early or stay late depending on production demands
- Must be able to wear required PPE
- Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time
- Ability to physically bend, twist and kneel in a safe and efficient manner
- Ability to learn and adapt in a fast-paced work environment
- Able to change direction frequently
- Must be able to work unsupervised
Preferred Skills
- Associates or BS Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Previous experience in a lead-acid battery manufacturing environment is a plus
- Experience with small tools, pallet jack, forklifts, reach trucks or other material handling equipment
- Familiar with SAP ERP Software
- Previous experience with handling of Hazardous Materials and or Hazardous Materials training certification
